Bishops failed to front up in defence against the hungrier RCW

Billed as a clash not to be missed, RCW could be forgiven for thinking that the men from St.Gallen missed the clash. Poor defensive reads from the outset, and a lack of bite in defence, Bishops learned a tough lesson at the hands of their hungrier and more determined opponents.

Down 29 - 0 within 25 minutes, some encouraging defence, continuity and phase play toward the end of the 1st half gave Bishops some positives going into the break. With 2 quick tries after the break from Barnaby Caven and sub Tom Wright, hope was rekindled, only to be extinguished shortly after with a mounting penalty count followed by 2 yellow cards. RCW ended the match on a high running in 8 tries to 2.

A frustrating result for St. Gallen rugby fans and St. Gallen Bishops, who have a lot to work on if they aim to be competitive in the play-offs set for June,

Thanks to RCW for being fantastic hosts. A huge thank-you to our sponsors and supporters/families that made the trip to Sportplatz Ländli.

On a personal note, very humbled to have received recognition with the Würenlos 2017/18 Rugby Spirit Award - thanks again RCW for embodying the values which set our sport apart.
