Man of the Match Daniel Llano's standout 1st half performance seals 2019 opener for Bishops

Hosted at RC Solothurn's ideal new headquarters 'Mittleres Brühl' Bishops were the first to convert pressure to points with Llano scoring 3 consecutive tries at the 10th, 21st & 35th minute marks. With crushing carries, impressive line breaks, some great line-out poaches and a general commanding 1st half performance, No 8 and Man of the Match Daniel Llano led RC St. Gallen Bishops to victory over Rugby Club Solothurn.

With a dominant scrum, the St. Gallen forwards were able to apply constant pressure on Solothurn. Sandro Meyer, playing at half back, also added to the points tally with quick thinking and reactions to score at the 39th minute, securing the 4-try bonus point. With the added conversion, the men from St. Gallen went into the break with a comfortable 22-0 lead.

However, it was Solothurn who came out firing in the second half. Following some strong tackling and good reads of poor passing, RC Solothurn were able to run in 3 tries plus a conversion. A score to captain Oliver Baumgartner, which was duly converted, saw Bishops hold on to their lead, closing out the game 29 - 17. A special mention to Dominic Egli, who had an impressive return to the starting line up after a lengthy injury break.

Thanks must also go to our support crew, non-playing Bishops, the referee and hosts RC Solothurn for another great rugby day.

Next Saturday 6th April, Bishops host Albaladejo Lausanne at home for what should prove another tough, exciting match. See you at Breitfeld, Gründenmoos for kick off @ 3pm.
