2 from 2 as Bishops clinch nail-biter

In perfect weather conditions and with a vocal home-crowd, Bishops clinched a nail-biter and remain top of the table after another bonus point win.

A fiercely competitive match, Bishops opened the scoring as Dominik Egli swooped on a loose ball and dotted down under the posts. Following the successful conversion, Bishops were up 7-0. Bishops went on to score a further 2 first-half tries. Johannes Eberle picked up a five-pointer after running a great inside support line off Captain Baumgartner, who also had a telling impact on the match. Daniel Roduner managed to hold on to the ball scoring another try in only his 2nd game on the wing. Another successful conversion from out in front saw Bishops 19 points to the good.

However, Zug answered back scoring a penalty and converted try before the break resulting in a half time score of 19-10. Zug carried this momentum into the 2nd half and looked almost sure to win after scoring 2 more converted tries with a 24-19 lead.

Gian Luca Alker gave Bishops the leveller in the 74th minute with Baumgartner successfully converting to take Bishops to a 26-24 lead. With the clock ticking down, the men from Eastern Switzerland defended with every scrap of remaining energy. As Zug made a threatening break down the right flank, Man-of-the-Match Gabriel Burger made a decisive cover tackle, which also signalled the end of the game.

Huge thanks to all who helped make the day a successful one: our women's team Cindies/Konstanz, our club members, Xiles, families, supporters and sponsors.

Also thanks to Referee Manuel Von Allmen and our opponents RC Zug.
